Would it be realistic to guess that Starfleet may have been building the Akira class as a "classified project" hence, someone like Major Kira would not know of any such "warship" in the Starfleet rosters?

I have taken the time to come up with the complete crew manifests of a great deal of the Starfleet ships through the different eras using my first hand knowledge of ship crews from my time in the USN. if anyone wants me to share them with you, please just contact me at theprodgialson@aol.com and i'll email them along with the starfleet uniform drawings that i've come up with to show all of the various uniofrms of the DS9 era. That site is an role playing site, they can make anything up they wish to accommodate their needs, perhaps instead look up the actual specs as they did before spouting off about something you obviously have no idea about. Dave and Jim, have been looking over this site for an hour or so, have found a lot of useful stuff, thank you for your effort and keep it up.

I am having trouble finding correlating evidence suggesting that the Type 18 Shuttle was not warp capable. It possesses viable nacelles, at least. What indication is there that it does not posses a warp core?

i know akira's REAL length. there is absolutely no doubt that the akira is 407,6 meters long. This i because a man like Alex Jaeger, who designed such a awesome ship has to be 1337. and as we all know ILM is a US company. so couldn't it be possible that the discussion should be led in feet instead of meters? and now just guess how many feet 407,6 meters are?

If I add up all the crew in the above list I come to a total of 320. That's about 180 short of the standard crew complement of 500...

Yeah, it's not exact. I know there are many many holes in some of the data. Problem is that we got the information from several sources. I will correct that versight, 320 seems more reasonable to me, really, than 500.

According to the cut-away view of this class of ship that you provided, from the top of the catamaran to the bottom of the saucer section is a total of 20 decks with an additional 3 decks in the weapons pod. If this is an accurate cut-away, then the bridge is on deck three (the top of the saucer section between the catamaran hulls) and not deck 1 (as on a normal federation starship). That would put the warp core starting between decks 2 and 3 and going down to deck 13 and would mean that main engineering should be located on deck 8 and not on deck 15 as you say, and if the warp core is that large (approximately 10 decks in length top to bottom), then is it located in the port or starboard catamaran as it would not fit in the saucer section at that location (centerline).

I looked at all those cut away images and it looked to me that the warp core was located behind and below the bridge with main engineering on deck 10 or so.
Am I wrong?

Query - there is no reference nor any indication on diagrams etc, of escape pods on the TIC. The only reference seems to be an "emergency ladder to enginerring"
Be buggered if I would want to be in the TIC of the ship was going "down". Surely there would be provision? or have I missed something important here....?

Yes in theory there should be something there, but also in an abandon ship you can utilize the point to point teleport to shuttle bay and grab a shuttle pod out as the crew dose seem relatively small compared to the rest of the ship but i could be wrong

I think most starfleet ships, especially the torpedo-heavy Akira, had more than 150 photon torpedoes. I think it is more like 300 photon torpedoes.

this is not an akira class bridge, the akira class bridge is a variant on the galaxy class bridge. Your description of the bridge shown is even wrong. For one thing it shows only a center seat for the captain, no seatting for 1st officer and counselor

Most of the akira layouts look too much like the enterprise and ledd like the galaxy class bridge. Are those inaccurate because i favor a more galaxy class bridge. Much like the one i placed in the pgoto gallery section of this site.

Ahh, the torpedo room. Strange that it's so large, when, based on speed of reloading, it appears to be almost all automated.

Actually, davedorm, because there is no distinction between "L" and "R" in the Nihongo (Japanese- Akira is a Japanese name) "Akeela" and "Akira" are identical.
