Senior Officer's QuartersIndividuals assigned to the Akira Class for periods over six months are permitted to reconfigure their quarters within hardware, volume, and mass limits. Individuals assigned for shorter periods are generally restricted to standard quarters configuration.

All junior and senior officer quarters have view ports, of varying size and configuration based on the quarters' size and configurations. However, not all general crew quarters have view ports. Crew quarters are numbered throughout the ship as follows: "1" is always centre forward; even numbers extend along the starboard side; odd numbers extend along the port side. Accommodations typically include a bedroom, living/work area, and a small bathroom. Other amenities available include food synthesizer terminals (replicators), sonic showers, standard showers, null- or variable-grav sleeping chambers (for those species that require it), personal holographic viewers, and provisions for pets (if permitted - not common aboard combat vessels).

Starfleet personnel from the rank of Ensign up to Commander are given one set of quarters to themselves. In addition, department heads and their assistants are granted such privileges as well, in an effort to provide a private environment to perform off-duty work. After six months, officers are permitted to bring family aboard the ship and a slightly larger room is allocated to them. Members of the Captain's Senior Staff can have these restrictions waved with the Captain's permission.

Senior Officers quarters provide approximately 110 square meters (approximately 1010 square feet) of personal living space. The CO has approximately 150 square meters (1370 sq ft), and the XO 135 square meters (1225 sq ft). These numbers may be slightly higher or lower depending on each officer's species and biological requirements.

Family Quarters: There are six family suites available on the Akira Class, with an average 140 sq. meters allotted for married couples serving on board the Akira Class together. (Due to species' requirements, and/or family members such as children, these family suite sizes may vary.)
